blackbyrd – ‘Lo-Fidelity’

Versatile Massachusetts artist blackbyrd has shared a new release, titled Lo-Fidelity. blackbyrd returns after his latest album Shoegaze for Black Kids with two new tracks that defy genre boundaries with their versatile style and songwriting. The boom bap inspired “Black Twitter Remix”, featuring Mick Jenkins, is juxtaposed with the alternative R&B of “Vibin’”, once again showcasing blackbyrd’s ability to master multiple genres at once. 

On his previous album, the well-received LP Shoegaze for Black Kids, blackbyrd demonstrated that he is an artist that cannot be placed in a box. With flourishes of hip-hop, indie, shoe gaze and more, Shoegaze for Black Kids found blackbyrd forming his own lane by seamlessly blending a variety of genres across diverse soundscapes. This trend continues with his latest two-pack Lo-Fidelity. With the hip-hop-tinged “Black Twitter Remix” featuring Mick Jenkins, he trades raw, lyrically-focused verses with Jenkins atop soulful production- while “Vibin’” presents a floating, engaging indie and R&B-laced joint.
